Babogaya: Sunset Over Ethiopia Rift Valley Crater Lake

Bishoftu (Debre Zeit) town is simply crater lakes heaven. The town is located 45 km south east of Addis Ababa and complemented with five small Ethiopia rift valley crater lakes- Kuriftu, Hora, Babogaya, Bishoftu and Cheleleka.

Bishoftu town could be a flavorsome stopover before embarking upon the electrifying Eastern Ethiopia route. From several activities a visitor can enjoy like boat excursion, fishing, bird-watching, or just relishing Mother Nature, I choose to share one of the experiences that blows me away. It is the brief moment I was blessed enough to witness and capture from the viewpoint constructed around one of the crater lakes.

Watching down the serene Babogaya Crater Lake by itself provides a sense of harmony while waiting and letting “mother nature to take its course.” I must say, standing still and watching the sunset over the Crater Lake, is one of the breath-taking experiences and must-see spectacles of Bishoftu town.

For me it was worth waiting every moment and I was trying to be conscious as much as possible so that I can be able to grasp the moment because I live for moments like these. It is true that a picture worth thousand words… so here are few pictures sprinkled with my favorite quotes so that the world can enjoy!

Bishoftu town is to glory in “lake panoramas” where Mother Nature whisks an astonishing topography.

Fantastic views of Ethiopia. My minds image of Ethiopia is one of a desert country of rock and sand, it’s fascinating to see the green forests and lakes. Nice quotes too, and I particularly like the last one!
