Addis Ababa encompasses colorful markets that are worth to visit. Mercato is reputed to be the largest market in Africa and is one of the tourist Attractions of Addis Ababa. Today, I want to walkabout and the take the world with me to one of the markets of Addis Ababa and I pick the market called ‘Shola’. Though it’s not as huge as Mercato it contains the eloquent pieces of Ethiopia, colorful and very interesting in its own flavor.
The market days are Wednesday and Saturday, when people come from all over the country to sell their products, buy, and visit.

Well, here comes my favorite section of Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Markets, a place where you can see the kaleidoscope of arts and crafts created by various ethnic groups.
Most of these items are serviceable and put to daily use in Addis Ababa.
Since Addis Ababa’s market are the place where you can find products from different parts of the country, here is one from the southern part of country where False banana ‘Enset’ is favored crop. Here the Gurage woman preparing ‘Kotcho’ pita bread like prepared from the false banana and it’s one of my favorites too.

Here is something for Ethiopian kitchen cabinets a section where you can find the famous prepared Ethiopian spices Berebere and Mitmita, Ethiopian traditional snack ‘Kolo’ (roasted legumes) and so many more.
If you want to prepare the Ethiopian spice ‘Berebere’ (which is behind many traditional cuisines) yourself at Home here is the red chili pepper, the main ingredient and its so aromatic around here!
